Menstruate once every four months

Patient's question:

Patient Age: 22
Detailed Condition and Purpose of Consultation: I had amenorrhea before, usually occurring every 3 to 4 months, and it lasted for about a year. Recently, I have been having periods every month, but each time they are delayed by about 3 to 4 days. Sometimes the menstrual flow is light and dark in color. This time, there was only a small amount, and it stopped after the second day. I would like to ask what is going on?

Doctor's answer:

Suggestion: The vaginal area is prone to producing odors during menstruation, especially in summer. However, simply cleaning the vaginal area with shower gel during a bath or repeatedly washing it with hot water is not healthy. Instead, it can easily lead to vaginal infections and cause itching. It is unlikely that dentists will ask if you are menstruating before extracting a tooth, but you must know for yourself that dental extraction should not be done during menstruation.
During menstruation, it is not advisable to undergo gynecological exams, urinalysis, blood tests, or electrocardiograms. Additionally, lower back pain during menstruation is caused by pelvic congestion. At this time, hitting the lower back can further increase pelvic congestion, worsening the pain. Moreover, hitting the lower back during menstruation is not conducive to the healing of the uterine lining after shedding, which can lead to increased bleeding and prolonged menstruation.
