Patient's question:
Doctor, hello?I once had candidal vaginitis and it went away after I used Daktarin on my own. Two months ago, during a miscarriage surgery, I was found to have pelvic effusion. Later, I took six courses of medication at the hospital before the surgery.
Recently, more than ten days after my period, I felt lower back pain, and my vaginal discharge became like cottage cheese. This morning, it was slightly yellow but without any odor. Could you please tell me what this might be?
Doctor's answer:
Hello, a discharge resembling cottage cheese should be suspected as candidiasis. Candidiasis is one of the most common gynecological diseases, caused by fungal infection. Clinically, it presents with increased discharge accompanied by external genital itching and vaginal burning sensation, with the typical discharge appearing like cottage cheese.Oral itraconazole 400mg, twice daily, for 5 days.
Nystatin vaginal suppositories (containing 250,000 U of nystatin), inserted deep into the vagina, once in the morning and once in the evening, or once nightly, for 2 weeks.
