Under the Stars: The Confessions of a Devilish Romantic - The Confessions of a Devilish Romantic

Features: The Infant Under the Stars is so captivating, its fragrant and meticulously polished style has reached the height of the ornateness of Proust and Nabokov. Like Proust, the life depicted in his works is essentially an exile that is both lonely and constantly escaping the present, much like a dazzling mirage that constantly shifts and moves. Only a master of language can instantly capture its charm. Max says, "Life is short and filled with sorrow, but I still love life." His heart-wrenching and distorted existence is presented in magnificent prose and refined brushwork, resembling a special model among the various types of human beings—a strange and exaggerated, both mute and piercing one. —John Updike (John Updike)
By chance, such a primal voice, as if it came from nowhere, suddenly emerges, telling a story completely different from what we have ever heard before. Gailir is a completely new writer, and I believe that The Infant Under the Stars will mark the beginning of an important and long-lasting career for him. —Michael Cunningham (author of The Hour’s)
An extremely solemn and beautiful fable, in The Infant Under the Stars, Gailir revisits the central theme he is concerned with in his novels: how time destroys love, and how love retaliates in turn. —San Francisco Chronicle
Gailir's prose is incredibly delicate; its light rhythm at the turn of the century and poetic glow perfectly present this strange, heart-wrenching, and hypnotically enchanting legend. —Publishing Weekly
Our protagonist is a strange creature, whose body is already aged like that of a seventy-year-old at birth. As time passes, he gradually ages from old to young, until he becomes a child. By the age of sixty, he looks like a ten-year-old.
