Features: Genetic discrimination is a new challenge that arises with the advancement of genetic technology. In addition to the prohibition measures called for by general ethicists and legal experts, this book proposes an alternative approach to thinking about and solving the problem. If we only observe the issue from the perspectives of employers and employees, or insurance companies and insured individuals, we may easily fall into a zero-sum game where one side wins at the expense of the other. To avoid this situation, the author of this book suggests analyzing social interests and costs from a rational choice perspective, and then reasonably allocating these interests and costs based on appropriate social justice standards and legal tools. If privacy, equality, or justice concepts are applied to genetic discrimination in a dogmatic manner, it may hinder the establishment of legally sound norms with long-term rationality.
