Features: Universities are products of social development, and universities cannot be separated from society, just as social development cannot be separated from universities. The core mission of universities lies in cultivating talent and creating new knowledge. For this fundamental mission to truly become an effective driving force for social development, universities must take on the responsibility of serving society. Western scholar Henry Newman wrote in his article "The Main Purpose of a University Education" that: "If the medium must give university courses a practical purpose, then I say it is training good members of society. Its art is the art of social life, and its purpose is to adapt to the world. University training is a great and ordinary means to achieve a great and ordinary purpose. It aims to elevate the intellectual standards of society, enhance the public's intellectual cultivation, purify the taste of the people, provide true principles for the public's passions, and set clear goals for the public's aspirations. It expands the intellectual content of the era and keeps this intellect alert, advances the exercise of political power, and refines the interactions between personal lives." Based on the above understanding of the functions and purposes of universities, this paper studies higher education in Chinese political socialization and the politicalization function of Chinese higher education.
