Features: Sketching is the foundation of plastic arts. In the traditional sense, sketching mainly trains students in representational plastic expression from aspects such as structure and light and shadow. In modern design concepts, sketching is based on traditional sketching and places more emphasis on training students in variable plastic expression from perspectives like observation and presentation, focusing on cultivating innovative thinking. This book primarily explores six aspects of design sketching—brushwork, structure, light and shadow, texture, plane, and space—following the approach of observing objects from different angles and presenting them in various forms. It guides students to develop deep visual experiences, create more innovative visual forms, promote changes in thinking patterns and improve expressive skills, laying a solid foundation for future professional design. The content of this book includes:
(1) Brushwork: Tools and Techniques;
(2) Structure: The structure of objects, organic structure, and the simultaneous representation of structure and objects;
(3) Light and Shadow: Light and shadow and realism, the shape and black and white of light and shadow;
(4) Texture: Real texture, simulated texture, abstract texture, and texture synthesis;
(5) Plane: Positive and negative forms, abstract observation, and plane imagery;
(6) Space: Space-limiting elements, deconstruction and reconstruction of space.
