Features: Huanggang High School, founded in 1904 in Huanggang, Hubei Province, was designated as a key high school in Hubei Province in 1953 and was awarded the title of "Advanced Unit in the National Education System" in 1986. In 2002, it was recognized as an "Advanced Unit in the National Spiritual Civilization Construction."
Huanggang High School upholds the educational philosophy of "putting people first and establishing the school on virtue," forming the distinctive educational feature of "comprehensive development + special talents" and exploring a teaching style characterized by "seeking truth, refinement, novelty, and innovation." The outstanding performance in college entrance exams and competitions is an inevitable result of its long-term implementation of quality education and merely one aspect of its abundant teaching achievements.
When it comes to nurturing students, what magic formula does Huanggang High School possess? What ability does it have to turn sand into a tower? What skill does it have to turn stone into gold? These are questions I often hear. If one thinks Huanggang High School merely follows the of the college entrance exams and passively engages in test-taking, that is incorrect. Huanggang High School does not advocate rote memorization or passive problem-solving. If it has any exceptional qualities, it lies in its ability to fully grasp the intent of test-setters and deeply understand their underlying principles, becoming a leader rather than a blind follower.
Huanggang High School does not oppose teachers immersing themselves in a sea of problems but strongly advocates that students break free from it. It opposes students doing mechanical, simple, repetitive, and monotonous exercises but requires them to complete necessary ones. We encourage students to engage in flexible, diverse, and widely applicable problems, allowing them to enrich their knowledge, develop skills, and enhance their qualities through the process of problem-solving.
If there is any other success Huanggang High School has achieved, it is that while nurturing and cultivating a large number of outstanding students, it has also forged its teaching staff, creating renowned master teachers in Hubei Province. These teachers possess profound scientific and cultural literacy, innovative educational concepts, unique teaching styles, artistic skills, and abundant teaching achievements.
To showcase the talents of Huanggang High School teachers and share their teaching results, we have organized and carefully planned the writing of three series of books by frontline core teachers: "Huanggang High School Homework Books," "Huanggang High School Exam Papers," and "Huanggang High School 2006 College Entrance Exam Second and Third Round Training Materials."
The "Huanggang High School Homework Books" series is based on the "Teaching Syllabus" and "Exam Syllabus," highlighting the role of "homework" in the process of students forming learning abilities, problem-solving skills, and exam-taking abilities. It reflects the inevitable connection between Huanggang High School students' brilliant performance in various exams and their rigorous daily practice.
This series has been meticulously designed in its format, featuring four major sections—pre-class warm-up, in-class exercises, after-class exercises, and middle/high school exam online—to strengthen training and improve abilities. It is characterized by the following:
1. Appropriate problem positioning: In the arrangement of exercises, this series focuses on consolidating and progressively improving the knowledge points, types of questions, and methods associated with them. The positioning of the series is to help students elevate their problem-solving skills through progressive exercises in ability-based, open-ended, applied, and comprehensive formats.
2. Moderate difficulty gradient: The ratio of basic, intermediate, and difficult questions in this series is 6:3:1, making it suitable for the use of most middle schools. Most questions are labeled with A, B, or C to indicate their difficulty level, ensuring clarity and appropriateness.
3. Detailed problem-solving hints: The answers at the back of the book are appropriately detailed, with more thorough solutions provided for difficult questions. It is particularly noteworthy that the well-timed hints often play a pivotal role in illuminating the key to solving problems.
This series emphasizes the originality and quality of the authors' problems, with rigorous review and proofreading at every stage, striving to become a unique gem in the educational supplement market.
