What are the causes of children's amblyopia?

Patient's question:

Male, 4 years old, my child has been complaining that her eyes are uncomfortable. I took her to a Grade III hospital for examination. The doctor said she has amblyopia. I want to ask what are the causes of amblyopia in children?

Doctor's answer:

Hello! Strabismus is the best-corrected visual acuity that declines in a single or both eyes during visual development due to abnormal visual experience, such as strabismus, refractive anisometropia, high refractive error, and amblyopia. There are no organic changes in the eyes after a thorough examination. The age factor is very important in the treatment of amblyopia; the younger the age, the better the effect. Children who overuse their eyes, watching TV for less than 2 hours a day and keeping a distance of less than 3 meters from the TV, or reading for long periods at a distance of less than 30 centimeters, are more likely to experience visual fatigue, and a small portion of them may develop amblyopia again.
