Patient's question:
I have an itchy lower body, and my underwear is always yellow. What's going on? What is the accurate value for the Down's screening downs number?Doctor's answer:
The Down syndrome screening is used to identify children with Down syndrome, which is a common congenital fetal malformation often seen in clinical practice. Generally, we recommend performing the test between the 14th and 20th weeks of pregnancy. In normal pregnancies, the amount of amniotic fluid increases with gestational age up to 36-38 weeks. However, in the final 2-4 weeks, the amount of amniotic fluid gradually decreases, reaching approximately 1000ml at full term. Excessive amniotic fluid, defined as more than 2000ml at any stage of pregnancy, is referred to as polyhydramnios. In most cases, mild excess is not a major concern, and regular follow-up visits to the hospital are sufficient.
