Disappeared Horizon

Author: Hilton

Publish Date: 2005-08-01
Features: This book is the plot of a novel written by the author James Hilton, titled Lost Horizon, which was first published in 1933. It was precisely because of the publication of this book that a new word was added to the English language—"Shangri-La"—a term that became a symbol of eternal tranquility and peace. With the novel being adapted into films multiple times after 1937, that magical land and the name Shangri-La became even more widely known, attracting countless explorers, tourists, archaeologists, and even gold seekers to search for this seemingly fictional place, almost forgetting that it was merely a fictional location. Singaporean Chinese tycoon Kwee Hin Leong named his global hotel group "Shangri-La." Even Zhongdian County, located in the southeastern part of Yunnan Province in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, which borders Yunnan, Tibet, and Sichuan, even changed its county name to "Shangri-La."
