Why is the fetal NT thickening?

Patient's question:

I got married last year, and recently I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain. It's especially bad during my period, and I'm very worried it might affect fertility. Also, I'm extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. Could you please explain why there is thickening of the fetal NT?

Doctor's answer:

The nuchal translucency (NT) is a collection of fluid beneath the skin at the back of the baby's neck that can be measured using ultrasound. All babies have some fluid, but most babies with Down syndrome have a thicker NT. Generally, doctors consider an NT value greater than 3 millimeters to be abnormal.
Hello, in your case, early pregnancy tests are usually detectable one day after a missed period, with the earliest possible detection occurring 3-4 days before the period. It is recommended to continue monitoring and stay calm.
