Patient's question:
I got married last year. Recently, I've been experiencing lower abdominal pain, especially during my period. I'm very worried it might affect fertility, and I'm also extremely sensitive to cold and coldness. What are the symptoms of a pregnant woman before giving birth?Doctor's answer:
Symptoms before labor include:Lower abdominal pressure: For first-time pregnant women, before labor, as the fetal presenting part descends into the pelvis and the uterine base lowers, they often feel the upper abdomen is more comfortable than before and breathing is easier, with increased appetite. However, due to the descending presenting part compressing pelvic organs like the bladder and rectum, they may experience lower abdominal heaviness, frequent urination, and lower back pain.
False labor contractions: Before delivery, pregnant women often experience irregular uterine contractions. These contractions are short in duration, with long intervals, and are not regular. The intensity of contractions does not increase, and they only cause mild cramping pain limited to the lower abdomen. The cervix does not dilate with these contractions, and there is no bleeding.
Bloody show: Bloody show is the final symptom before delivery. 24–48 hours before delivery, some bloody mucus may be discharged from the vagina, which is known as bloody show.
