With the process of modernization in our country, not only has aesthetic education become a major topic in the humanities education of college students, but it has also become an inevitable trend to enrich and enhance the quality of life of the general public in our country through the forms and application technologies of beauty. The direction in which most art departments train students may increasingly be application-oriented talents rather than talents in traditional painting or pure art creation. This change has naturally led to adjustments in teaching approaches. Serving teaching is one of the duties of a publishing house, and in the face of this change, the first thought is to reform and adjust textbooks. In the teaching of applied talents in university art and design programs, the content and knowledge scope of practical and applied technology subjects have become the core of the curriculum, and most students spend a considerable amount of time on these subjects during their time in school. To this end, universities and departments adjust their faculty allocation, curriculum arrangements, and even their business models to suit the development of the disciplines. Our publishing house has also actively cooperated in publishing a series of applied basic textbooks in various fields to meet these needs, and many of these textbooks have been recognized and praised by teachers and students, forming a certain influence. However, we have also thought about another topic in textbooks together with teachers and authors from a number of universities: Is the higher education and vocational education in art colleges and universities simply aimed at cultivating a batch of "craftsmen"? What is the difference between higher education and vocational education? The answer is also clear: higher education should cultivate talents to follow the path of designers and open up a path to train technically skilled professionals with creative and innovative abilities. Then, in the four years of undergraduate study in higher education institutions, theoretical and historical-theoretical content absolutely cannot be lacking, and it must definitely be the courses in the knowledge structure. If there is an overemphasis on applied and practical courses while neglecting theoretical foundation learning, it is very dangerous. In response to this adjustment, Shanghai People's Fine Arts Publishing House has decided to release two sets of theoretical textbooks to enrich our publishing house's textbook system. One set is the "Series of Theoretical Textbooks for Higher Education in Fine Arts," primarily focused on traditional fine arts theory. The other set is the "Series of Theoretical Textbooks for Higher Education in Design," primarily focused on the basic theory of art and design. The two sets of textbooks have a consistent concept and are completely formulated according to the teaching syllabus requirements of the Ministry of Education. In the planning and manuscript acquisition process, our publishing house has fully noticed that the discussion and arrangement of key knowledge points and learning focuses should be placed first. At the same time, according to the reading habits of modern students, the readability of the textbooks and the interactive form of visual material are combined to strive to overcome the rigid appearance of theoretical books in the past with the best book form, making these two sets of textbooks become assistants that meet our pursuit of perfect teaching goals, proving that we are making efforts.
