Features: The boiler is one of the three major hosts in a thermal power plant. The normal operation of boiler equipment directly affects the safety, reliability, and economic benefits of the thermal power plant. Therefore, technical personnel and managers engaged in the operation, installation, commissioning, and management of boiler equipment urgently need a practical and user-friendly professional technical book. The authors of this book are all frontline technical and research personnel who have long been involved in boiler design, teaching and research, and engineering practice, with solid theoretical foundations and rich practical experience. The book is divided into five chapters. Chapter 1 mainly introduces the role and importance of boilers in thermal power plants, the development of boilers, the classification and basic characteristics of boilers in thermal power plants. Chapter 2 mainly introduces the main types and characteristics of boiler equipment commonly used in thermal power plants, the characteristics of different combustion devices, the main characteristics of the boiler equipment evaporation heat transfer system, the layout and characteristics of the main convective heat transfer surfaces, and the technical introduction of boiler auxiliary equipment. Chapter 3 mainly introduces the composition of the thermal efficiency of the boiler unit and the factors affecting thermal efficiency. Chapter 4 mainly introduces the characteristics and management of boiler equipment under different operating conditions, as well as the analysis and solutions for various types of boiler equipment accidents. Chapter 5 focuses on the technical applications of several special fuels for circulating fluidized bed boilers in China and abroad, as well as the analysis and handling of boiler operation accidents. The book is written with a focus on scientific rigor and practicality, with rich content that includes both fundamental theoretical knowledge and new technological advancements, as well as summaries of practical experience. It can serve as a training textbook for a wide range of boiler technicians, technical workers, and thermal power technology designers and managers in thermal power plants, as well as a teaching material and professional reference for design personnel in large and small thermal power engineering and small and medium-sized boiler manufacturing enterprises. [Preface] Boiler Equipment Operation and Accident Handling is one of the Practical Technology Series for Thermal Power Plants organized and compiled by the Thermal Power Committee of the China Society of Electrical Engineering. The safe and economical operation of boiler equipment in thermal power plants is of great significance for safeguarding people's lives and property, promoting the sustainable development of the national economy, the rational use and conservation of energy, and improving and protecting the environment. The boiler is one of the three major hosts in a thermal power plant, a special equipment directly heated by flames and involving life safety with explosion hazards, making its safety particularly important. It has always been under the supervision and management of national technical inspection departments. At the same time, the boiler is also a major consumer of coal in the national economic development. In the foreseeable future, China's energy consumption pattern dominated by coal will not change, and energy conservation and environmental improvement are urgent. Currently, there are about 500,000 small and medium-capacity boilers in operation in China, including those used in thermal power plants, accounting for about half of the country's coal production annually. However, the actual operating efficiency of these boilers is much lower than their design values. Therefore, improving the thermal efficiency of boiler units and ensuring their safe and economical operation are key measures for establishing a scientific safety management and operation mechanism, reducing atmospheric pollution emissions, and improving air quality. This book introduces various types of boilers, particularly the characteristics of circulating fluidized bed boilers, and discusses the new developments in circulating fluidized bed boiler technology. It also provides specialized discussions on the handling of accidents in the operation of various types of boilers. This book was co-authored by Professor-level Senior Engineer Dong Zukang, Professor-level Senior Engineer Zhu Xiaofeng, and Senior Engineer Xing Peisheng of Wuxi Huaguang Boiler Co., Ltd. During the writing process, it received support and guidance from Senior Engineer He Xuliang, General Engineer Shen Jiezong, Senior Engineer Dai Minggen, Senior Engineer Wu Yueguang, and colleagues Mao Junhua, Wang Zheng, Qian Gang, Su Xiaoping, and Wu Wenwei, who also participated in the review and editing of some chapters. In the process of organizing and printing the manuscript of this book, assistance was provided by Ding Jianfeng, Wei Liyan, Xu Xiaomin, Ma Hong, Zhu Ping, Xu Suyong, Zhang Jing, Huang Shenghua, Chen Lin, and Zhang Chunhua, to whom we express our sincere gratitude. Due to limited expertise, there may be shortcomings in the book, and we sincerely hope for the readers' help and corrections. Editors January 2006
