Features: This series of books was completed after a survey of 32 ethnic minority villages across the country from July to August 2003. Similar to the survey conducted in Yunnan, the national ethnic village survey adopted a "deep" approach and two "comprehensive" methods.
One "deep": Instead of conducting a broad survey of each ethnic group, a representative typical village was selected for each ethnic group for in-depth investigation.
Two "comprehensive": First, comprehensive survey content, which means conducting a comprehensive survey of each ethnic village in terms of population, economy, politics, society, culture, customs, law, marriage and family, religion, science and technology, health, education, and ecology. Second, comprehensive disciplines of survey personnel. It covered most disciplines of humanities and social sciences, such as law, economics, sociology, history, archaeology, literature, political science, logic, archival science, management, demography, tourism, linguistics, and art. A portion of natural science personnel, such as ecology, genetics, and architecture, also participated, and a specialized survey of genetic information was conducted.
