Features: To adapt to the reform and development of higher medical education in China and implement the requirements of the Ministry of Education for textbook development during the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period, the National Higher Medical Education Textbook Development Research Association and the Textbook Office of the Ministry of Health organized the writing of the planned textbooks for the eight-year clinical medical program in higher education across the country, with the support of renowned medical universities in China. "Pharmacology" is one of these textbooks. Pharmacology experts from 18 medical schools across the country participated in the writing of this textbook. During the writing process, the book was thoroughly analyzed and adjusted in terms of its overall design and content, based on the principles of "Three Basics" (basic theories, basic knowledge, and basic skills) and "Five Qualities" (ideological, scientific, advanced, enlightening, and applicable), while adhering to the requirements of "updating, deepening, and refining." The book is divided into eight parts and 47 chapters. In most chapters, the origin of drugs and the history of drug research development are introduced. In terms of the mechanisms of drug action, new theories and recent advancements have been added, and drugs newly introduced in recent years are also covered. In the section on drugs acting on the central nervous system, an introduction to drugs affecting the central nervous system is included, which is more comprehensive than traditional pharmacology textbooks. In terms of the arrangement of chapters, considering that drugs affecting autonomic active substances involve many aspects of pharmacology, this section has been moved forward. To facilitate understanding and memorization, the book has been color-coded during writing and printing for key terminology, concepts, common drug names, key parts of figures and tables, and other important sections. This book serves the eight-year medical education program for training medical doctors and is also suitable for the seven-year program. It can also be used as a reference for other relevant personnel.
