Features: To implement the "Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China" and the "Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China," prevent the pollution caused by crankcase emissions from heavy-duty vehicles equipped with spark-ignition engines, and improve ambient air quality, this standard has been formulated. This standard specifies the application for type approval, type approval testing, and emission limits for crankcase emissions of M and N category vehicles equipped with spark-ignition engines with a maximum total mass exceeding 3,500 kg. It also specifies the production consistency inspection methods and emission limits. This standard is revised based on GB14761.4-93 "Standard for Vehicle Crankcase Emissions" and GB11340-89 "Vehicle Crankcase Emission Measurement Method and Limits," incorporating some technical contents of GB18352.2-2001. The main differences between this standard and GB14761.4-93 and GB11340-89 are as follows: 1. The scope of application has been adjusted. The emission requirements for light-duty vehicles' crankcase emissions have been incorporated into GB18352.2-2001, so the requirements for light-duty vehicles in the original standard have been deleted; 2. The content of type approval and production consistency has been added; 3. The measurement method has been changed, and the revised measurement method refers to the provisions of GB18352.2-2001; 4. Additional test requirements have been added. Effective from the date of issuance of this standard, the following standards are abolished: 1. GB14761.4-93 "Standard for Vehicle Crankcase Emissions." 2. GB11340-89 "Vehicle Crankcase Emission Measurement Method and Limits." Appendices A and B of this standard are part of the standard. This standard was first issued in August 1989 and revised in November 1993. This is the second revision. In accordance with relevant legal provisions, this standard is binding in force. This standard was proposed by the Science and Technology Standards Department of the State Environmental Protection Administration. The main drafting unit of this standard is Beijing Automotive Research Institute. This standard was approved by the State Environmental Protection Administration on April 5, 2005. This standard shall come into effect on July 1, 2005. This standard is interpreted by the State Environmental Protection Administration.
