Zikai Comics -- Centennial Classics, Century Treasures, Comics That Have Influenced Us

Author: Feng Zikai

Publish Date: 2004-03-01
Features: Among the works of Mr. Feng Zikai, comic strips are perhaps the most renowned. Often with just a few strokes, they capture an entire mood, such as in After People Depart, a Crescent Moon Hangs in the Sky Like Water. A few tea cups and a curtain are enough to convey a profound emotion. Many of Mr. Feng’s comic strips feature children as their subjects, and I particularly enjoy Abo in His Underwear, You Peel Melons for Me, I Fan You, and The Meeting. Reading Mr. Feng’s children’s comic strips makes even us so-called adults feel ashamed. When will our world have less deceit, less obsession, and more naturalness and simplicity? Just as Mr. Feng said, temporarily detaching from the mortal world is pleasant, tranquil, and nourishing.
The original works of Feng Zikai’s comic strips are rare in the market. His ink paintings, however, are more commonly found. This site currently collects 173 of Mr. Feng’s comic strips, including some illustrations from his writings. It is far from comprehensive, but it represents the culmination of years of effort in collecting them.
