Patient's question:
I got my period on the 9th of December and it ended on the 13th. On the 18th, I had sexual intercourse and took emergency contraception afterward. I also used Dazolate to treat vaginitis. On the 25th, I suddenly started bleeding, similar to a menstrual period. Why could this be happening? Is it possible I have a gynecological condition?Follow-up question: Thank you for your answer! But I would also like to know if heavy bleeding is considered ovulation bleeding? Is ovulation bleeding only considered when there is light bleeding? If there is heavy bleeding, could it be something like cervical cancer? Also, does my condition of having breast hyperplasia affect this?
Doctor's answer:
Consider it could be dysfunctional uterine bleeding, uterine fibroids, and ovulatory bleeding. Gynecological inflammation is also possible. In the normal menstrual cycle of women, the 12th to 14th days are the ovulation period. At this time, due to the rupture of the follicle, fluctuations in estrogen levels, and changes in vascular permeability, red blood cells seep out of the blood vessels, causing slight vaginal bleeding. This is known as ovulatory bleeding.
To confirm whether it is ovulatory bleeding, basal body temperature can be measured to observe the relationship between bleeding and temperature changes. This helps avoid mistaking it for ovulatory bleeding and overlooking early diagnosis and treatment of other conditions.
Ovulatory bleeding is usually light in amount and short in duration, requiring no treatment. If the bleeding is heavier, medication to control the bleeding can be taken.
