Can a pregnancy test show only one line?

Patient's question:

Detailed medical condition and consultation purpose: Hello doctor!!
I got my period on December 1st (28-day cycle). I was clean on December 8th. On the 13th, I used an ovulation test strip and got two red lines. Then I had sex. We had intercourse every other day from ovulation to the end.
But yesterday, I used a pregnancy test and still got one red line.
According to the dates, I should get my period either tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.
The test yesterday only showed one line. Does that mean it failed again? Or that I’m not pregnant?
Or is it too early to test now? Then when should I test?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, if you use a pregnancy test to check whether you are pregnant, it is recommended to do so after your period is delayed. In addition to timely treatment and prenatal examinations, patients need to consult experts for advice and maintain communication with doctors. Patients also need to pay attention to nursing aspects, such as eating a light diet and avoiding spicy and stimulating foods. At the same time, patients should also pay attention to choosing a Class A hospital for diagnosis and treatment, so that they can achieve good therapeutic effects.
