Features: Conducting a serious study of the rich publishing practices in New China over the past 40-plus years, summarizing and elevating them theoretically, and further revealing the laws of socialist publishing work. This is an important condition for accelerating publishing reforms and developing the publishing industry. Since the founding of New China, comrades who have held leadership positions in national publishing administrative agencies have accumulated extensive work experience. Their speeches, reports, and articles have specifically influenced and guided publishing work during certain periods. Although some of the content may inevitably have historical limitations, overall, they remain a valuable asset reflecting the historical process of China's publishing and precious materials for studying contemporary publishing. Systematically and systematically organizing and publishing them is meaningful for advancing publishing research, theoretically summarizing publishing practices, accelerating publishing reforms and opening-up, and developing and flourishing the publishing industry of socialism with Chinese characteristics. Based on the above understanding, and upon the suggestion of Comrade Yuan Liang, the Press and Publication Administration Department agreed, and the China Publishing Science Research Institute and the Press and Publication News decided to jointly edit and publish the "Collected Works on Publishing in China."
