Author: Shangqiang Village Resident
Publisher:
Publishing Date: 1998-04-01
Features: The Northern and Southern Song dynasties marked the peak of Ci poetry history, with all major forms fully developed, displaying a rich diversity of styles and vibrant schools of thought. Renowned Ci poets emerged in abundance. The widespread dissemination of Ci poetry and its exceptional aesthetic impact truly surpass all previous eras. However, the sheer volume of Ci works makes them difficult to fully grasp. Therefore, selecting the essence and highlighting the key works for broader appreciation is indispensable.
Previous scholars have compiled numerous Ci anthologies, but only Mr. Shangqiang’s Three Hundred Selected Songs of the Song Dynasty has achieved widespread popularity and become a household name in the art world. To promote the legacy of past masters, popularize the finest Chinese classics, elevate the reading standards of the intellectual community, and advance cultural development in the new era, the Qilu Publishing House has carefully curated a collection of classical literary masterpieces that have endured the test of time and remain beloved by readers. These works have been designed with a uniform format, annotated and analyzed in detail, and published for the enjoyment of readers. This endeavor is undoubtedly a great contribution to scholars and the literary world, its benefits self-evident.
Assigned to compile and annotate the Three Hundred Selected Songs of the Song Dynasty, I have strived to provide clear and concise explanations, supported by evidence, and to appreciate the artistic merit of the poems, aiming to reveal their inner beauty and unlock the essence of the texts. However, due to the urgency of time and my limited scholarship, errors and shortcomings are inevitable. I sincerely hope that respected scholars and readers will kindly point out any mistakes for correction.
