Mao Zonggang and Jin Yong are contemporary literary giants with unparalleled readership, each interpreting and holding their own views. The Chinese Wuxia Literature Society has widely invited renowned experts to join in this grand endeavor, resulting in the publication of Critically Annotated Complete Collection of Jin Yong's Wuxia Novels, also serving as a call for more contributions. In this era where traditional Chinese culture is flourishing, it is indeed a joyous and beautiful event. The Return of the Condor Heroes is the "sequel" or "continuation" of The Legend of the Condor Heroes, but this is merely knowing one side and not the other. Because, (1) Although The Return of the Condor Heroes still features familiar faces like Guo Jing, Huang Rong, the Four Witches, the Five Elders, the Seven True Ones, the Old Madman, and their storylines, its protagonists are Yang Guo, Xiao Longnü, Guo Fu, Guo Xiang, Wu Guorui, Wu Xiuwen, and Ye Lüqi, a group of newcomers. The story's plot is primarily centered on the newcomers. (2) More importantly, whether in content, form, creative model, or thematic ideas, The Return of the Condor Heroes differs greatly from The Legend of the Condor Heroes. In a sense, it can be said that The Return of the Condor Heroes marks a major turning point in Jin Yong's wuxia fiction creation (and also a turning point).
