Will patients with trichomoniasis get gonorrhea?

Patient's question:

Leukorrhea with pus was tested for leukorrhea, and the doctor confirmed it as trichomoniasis. Treatment history and effectiveness: Leukorrhea is almost normal, but sometimes there is a pain and slight itching at the vaginal opening. Today, I found white, mud-like clumps, and there is some pain in the lower abdomen. What help do I need: I saw online that many people with trichomoniasis also get gonorrhea. I want to know if I have been diagnosed with trichomoniasis by the doctor, can I still get gonorrhea?

Doctor's answer:

Vaginitis is the most common gynecological disease in women, among which trichomoniasis is the most prevalent. Due to a lack of understanding about vaginitis, some women mistakenly believe that trichomoniasis is a sexually transmitted disease (STD) and become anxious. Trichomoniasis is not an STD; it is only a sexually transmitted infection, as it can often be spread through sexual activity.
In healthy women, a portion carries Trichomonas vaginalis in their vaginal tract without causing any inflammatory response. This may be due to the vaginal environment temporarily not being suitable for the growth of the parasite, or the strain of infection may be weak. However, when the vaginal environment changes and becomes favorable for the growth of Trichomonas vaginalis, it may lead to trichomoniasis.
Trichomoniasis is a very common vaginal inflammation in women of reproductive age, with its prevalence rate second only to candidiasis.
