Features: Talent in good roots only begins to sprout⑨, then deliberately cultivate it, teach it a thousand branches and ten thousand leaves. In places of evil sources, even a little trickle of water should be vigorously blocked, do not let it grow secretly. 【Notes】①: The root of troubles. ②Elegant simplicity: Dignified and refined demeanor. ③High pavilion: To put it away in a high pavilion. ④Chest: Mindset. ⑤Essentials of Governing Peace: The main ideas of governing and pacifying the world. ⑥The body does not belong to me: My body does not belong to me. ⑦Entangled in the lungs and abdomen: Entangled in the lungs and abdomen. ⑧Do not know me: Do not appreciate me. What harm is there? ⑨Sprout (niè): New buds of plants. 【Analysis】These paragraphs give inspiration to the phrase "Laziness is the root of all evils." When a person is lazy, they do not take anything seriously, just go with the flow, and even abandon moral principles. After that, they dare to say any bad words and dare to do any bad things. When dealing with others, do not be startled by praise or criticism, just be true to yourself, and do not care about others' opinions. Stand tall without asking for good fortune or misfortune, just do good, and do not do evil, leave the fate to heaven. Every thought can be known by heaven, do what you can; In every matter, do not insist on your own views, take pleasure in others' opinions. Shallow and narrow-minded, you will attract blame and regret everywhere; The two words of "inertia" have always misled heroes. Purify your mind and make your virtue divine⑤, wash your heart and retreat in seclusion⑥. Often think of the night as a thousand years, but fear that one day it will be a hundred years. On the stone of testing the heart, it is flat ground, and in the pool without feet, there is a hidden pool. The heart is not burdened by anything, and there are ten springs of spring in things. The divine body of seven feet, the heart of heaven and earth. There will be a day of return, but I do not know when. My heart is originally still water, and the world's affairs are floating clouds. 【Notes】Do not be startled by praise or criticism: Do not be startled by praise or criticism. Take pleasure in others' opinions: Take pleasure in others' opinions. Shallow and narrow-minded: Narrow-minded and shallow. Blame and regret: Resentment and regret. Purify your mind and make your virtue divine: The phrase "Purify your mind and make your virtue divine" comes from the Book of Changes (I Ching), "Therefore, he who is enlightened about the way of heaven and discerning about the affairs of the people, is the one who promotes divine things and leads the people. The sage uses this to purify himself, so that his virtue becomes divine." This means bathing and changing clothes, abstaining from meat and wine, and sleeping alone before sacrifice, so that his virtue becomes more divine. Wash your heart and retreat in seclusion: Wash away the evil thoughts in your heart and make it quiet. Seclusion, a quiet state. 【Analysis】The folk saying goes, "If you don't do anything wrong, you won't be startled when someone knocks on your door at night." Lü Kun's words here are the same as the saying. If a person stands tall and straight, they do not need to fear others' gossip. Those who cannot withstand discussion often cannot persist in the truth and will follow the crowd. Ethics is the great emotion in the universe, and men and women occupy it. The sage king does not want to cut and correct it, nor can he cut and correct it. Therefore, he communicates with the inevitable emotions, restricts with the unbreakable etiquette, and disciplines with the unmerciful laws, so that they can coexist in peace and for a long time. The sage is not as urgent as this, so among the five ethics, father and son, ruler and subject, brothers, and friends, they are deeply rooted and deeply rooted, afraid that their feelings will be thin. Only the ethics of men and women are the place where the sage puts his heart and soul, so the separation begins with husband and wife, and it is originally given to them without separation, but then taught to separate, and even those who are separated are willing to mix? The sage's intentions are profound, and it is the beginning of great chaos and the root of life and death. It cannot be taken lightly. 【Notes】Cut and correct: Rectify and correct. The root of life and death and the beginning of great chaos: The path of life and death, and the first evil that causes great chaos. 【Analysis】The rites stipulate that "men and women should be separated, and they should not receive each other," but why? Because the love activities of men and women are a powerful activity that can form strong power based on impulses, which can destroy the strict hierarchy system, allowing nobles and commoners to marry, and it can also cause population mobility, making rulers unable to control the people effectively. The marriage of men and women is decided by "the command of parents and the words of matchmakers," and society can operate in an orderly manner according to the requirements of the feudal system. Lü Kun is a guardian of the path, of course, he agrees with the teaching of separation between men and women. The love of a mother for her child is not intentional, and she does not know that it is intentional. It is like drinking when thirsty and eating when hungry, how can it be forced? The child's love for the mother is, if it is said to be deserved, accustomed to nature, like summer gauze and winter coats, how can it be credited? As for the kindness of a stepmother, there is a sense of pride, and there are words of pride. The first child's kindness from the stepmother is, there is a sense of gratitude, and there is praise. In a family, if you see the elders as respected, then the family is well-governed. If you do not see the elders as respected, how can you follow them? The key is that the elders must practice self-cultivation. 【Notes】Proud words: Boastful words. Grateful heart: A heart full of gratitude. Follow him: Follow him. 【Analysis】The prestige of the head of the family is indeed very important, especially for children who are growing up. If the child does not respect the head of the family, without a bit of respect or gratitude, the guidance of the head of the family is fundamentally ineffective, then "bringing up the family" is also out of the question. Lü Kun's words are very true, the key is the head of the family, he must set an example, there is nowhere to point out, and other family members will also believe him. A child's service to his parents is to serve the heart first, and to serve the body second. To serve the body without caring for the heart is even worse, and to serve them with words without caring for the body is the worst. The filial child's service to his parents is humble and humble like a servant, and gentle and tender like a child. When serving food to his parents, he accompanies but does not urge; When speaking to his parents, he discusses but does not advise; When serving his parents, he is harmonious but not solemn. When his parents are ill, he is worried but not sad; When he is ill, he looks but does not make a sound. When serving the sick, he is worried but does not eat, it is better to work hard and eat more. If this body cannot serve the sick, it is the greatest unfilial. To neglect etiquette while grieving is better than to restrain grief and be careful at the end of life. If this body cannot help with the affairs of mourning, it is the greatest unfilial.
