Principles of Western Economics

Features: There are many differences between popular Western economics textbooks and domestically written ones. However, we believe the most significant difference is that foreign textbooks include a large number of reference materials, which are mostly presented in the form of case studies, background introductions, brief biographies of key figures, and guides to new theoretical developments, making the textbooks quite lengthy. In our view, textbooks and teaching supplementary materials should be kept separate, as combining them is not very suitable for Chinese students. Based on this understanding, the third edition continues to strive to introduce the basic principles of Western economics in the most concise form possible, providing readers with a fundamental framework to grasp the core concepts of economics within a relatively short period. This series was written by teachers at our university who have long been engaged in teaching Western economics. The content is systematic and comprehensive, explaining basic theories in the context of major economic issues while avoiding in-depth analysis and evaluation of debates between different schools of thought. It blurs the distinction between microeconomics and macroeconomics, emphasizes the microfoundations of macroeconomics, highlights the integration of micro and macro aspects in Western economic theory, and incorporates recent achievements in economic research, making the book more focused, up-to-date, and contemporary.
Target Audience: Students and faculty of junior colleges and vocational schools.
