Features: Let's take a look at the exciting content of this book overall! The content of each unit from 1 to 11 is divided into four steps:
Step 1: Recognize objects through nursery rhymes, accompanied by corresponding cartoon images.
Step 2: Learn about real images of various objects and understand related knowledge.
Step 3: Conduct recognition exercises based on the content from the first two steps.
Step 4: Focus on attention training.
"Attention" is a psychological phenomenon, referring to the persistent direction of one's mental activity toward a particular object. However, "attention" is not a standalone psychological activity—it must be accompanied by abilities such as observation, memory, and thinking to manifest. The "interest-stimulating potential development" approach adopted in this book is not simply a pile of exercises, but rather uses animals and plants as primary materials. Nursery rhymes and cartoon images are used to spark the baby's interest, followed by real images to help children gain a deeper understanding of these things. Subsequently, when doing exercises featuring these images as protagonists, children will first turn their attention to the newly familiar "faces" they've just met, thereby engaging with the tasks.
It is best to complete one unit per day in this book. Avoid overwhelming the child with too much at once, as this may create excessive pressure and diminish their interest. The attention exercises in this book follow a gradual progression, spiraling upward in difficulty. Unit 10 reaches the peak of difficulty, while Units 11 and 12 slightly ease back, primarily to prevent overly challenging tasks from damaging the child's confidence. If a child gets stuck on a question and loses motivation, it's okay to skip it temporarily and revisit it later when their confidence returns.
While the exercises in this book are limited, a child's improvement in ability depends more on parental guidance in daily life. So, how can parents consciously cultivate their child's attention?
First, inspire their interest.
Second, during any given time, only ask the child to focus on one task. Minimize distractions from irrelevant factors to prevent them from developing a habit of being easily sidetracked.
Third, avoid interrupting the child and create a peaceful living environment for them. If a child is intently watching fish swim in water, try not to interrupt them, and certainly don't drag them away without explanation to do something else.
In summary, parents should seize every opportunity to guide their children in developing attention. With proper guidance, children can certainly be nurtured into focused individuals, keeping the term "being easily distracted" far away from them.
