Chapter I covers the history of pediatric development, mainly introducing the origin, formation, and development of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pediatric science, as well as the major achievements of Western pediatric science and integrated Chinese and Western pediatric medicine in China. Chapter II focuses on the fundamentals of pediatric science, comprehensively presenting the physiological and pathological characteristics of children from both TCM and Western medicine perspectives, growth and development, feeding and healthcare, an overview of diagnosis and treatment, and pediatric fluid therapy. The Specific Topics cover Chapters III to XV, including neonatal diseases, nutritional diseases, infectious diseases, parasitic diseases, tuberculosis, pediatric emergencies, and common diseases of various systems in children. Each disease is named according to Western medical terminology, and the content is written in an integrated Chinese and Western medicine format, allowing for cross-reference between Western medical names and TCM syndromes. It introduces the etiology and pathogenesis from both perspectives, Western medical diagnosis and treatment, as well as TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment. At the end of the book, there is an index of Chinese herbal formulas and normal values for pediatric auxiliary examinations for reference. For cases where Western medical and TCM terminology cannot be directly corresponded, explanations are provided without forced associations, pending further research in the future.
