Features: This book is guided by the Important Thought of "Three Represents" and the Scientific Outlook on Development. It reviews and summarizes the development history and experience of private economy in Guangdong. Through empirical and comparative research, it analyzes the main constraints on the development of private economy in Guangdong from the perspectives of financial capital, human capital, and social capital, as well as the institutional environment affecting these factors. The book argues that compared to Zhejiang, Jiangsu, and other regions, the endogenous development of private economy in Guangdong is weaker, and the motivation for structural upgrading is insufficient. These issues are all related to the endogenous weakness and insufficient motivation for structural upgrading in the exogenous development model led by the government. In the new era, for the private economy in Guangdong to achieve healthy and sustainable development, it needs to shift from a semi-dependent development model to a more self-reliant, harmonious, and balanced model, transitioning from a government-driven development model to a pluralistic coexistence model under a partnership framework formed by enterprises, communities, and the government. Cultivating the cooperative, coordinating, and autonomous functions of "third sectors" such as community and industry associations is key to achieving the transformation of the private economy's development model.
