Features: The "Nine Yuan Series" is self-explanatory, with each book priced at nine yuan. Offering books at a low price to benefit readers has always been a means of promoting excellent works in the publishing industry and has been a tradition of the People's Literature Publishing House. The purpose of editing and publishing the Nine Yuan Series is to inherit this fine tradition, allowing outstanding literary works to be better disseminated and shared as spiritual sustenance of contemporary literature in a broader scope. The "Nine Yuan Series, Volume I" includes twenty outstanding middle-length novels that emerged in the past three decades, hence the name "Middle-Length Masterpieces." In the future, there will be additional volumes, and other literary works from various genres will also be included in the Nine Yuan Series. It should be noted that some excellent middle-length masterpieces that should have been included in Volume I were unfortunately excluded due to unresolved copyright or technical issues. We deeply regret this and ask for the understanding of our readers. Editorial Department of the People's Literature Publishing House, December 2005
