Features: The "Nine Yuan Series" is self-explanatory, with each book priced at nine yuan. Offering books at low prices to benefit readers has always been a means of promoting excellent works in the publishing industry and one of the traditions of People's Literature Publishing House. The purpose of editing and publishing the Nine Yuan Series is to inherit this fine tradition, allowing outstanding literary works to be better disseminated and shared as spiritual nourishment for contemporary literature in a broader range. The Nine Yuan Series contains twenty titles, all outstanding mid-length novels that emerged in the past three decades, hence the name "Mid-Length Masterpieces." In the future, there will also be a second and third series, with other genres of literary works also entering the scope of the Nine Yuan Series. It should be noted that some excellent mid-length masterpieces that should have been included in the series were unfortunately excluded due to unresolved copyright or other technical issues. We deeply regret this and kindly ask the readers for their understanding. Editorial Department of People's Literature Publishing House, December 2005
