This book, "New Standard English (For Grade 3 Starters) Second Book," is designed for use in the second semester of Grade 3 in primary schools. The entire book is divided into 11 modules (Modules), including one final review module. Following the of the previous book, each module is divided into three units (Units). Typically, the first unit introduces the language content for the module, while the second and third units provide task-based exercises, including a song or short poem. The purpose of learning these songs or poems is threefold: to cultivate students' sense of rhythm and language intuition, improve pronunciation accuracy, and introduce certain Western cultures through familiar rhymes and poems from English-speaking countries. Some uncommon words in these songs or poems do not require students to learn them outside the context of the rhymes.
In this book, students will further learn how to describe people, objects, animals, and more, with a focus on describing actions. They will study how to describe frequent actions, ongoing actions, as well as time expressions and numbers. The text introduces new grammatical concepts, but it does not require teachers to explain grammar or for students to master it. Instead, the goal is for students to begin using these sentences. Teachers are advised to pay attention to this aspect during instruction.
