The second edition of Newly Compiled College English consists of three parts:
1) Newly Compiled College English Student Book and Teacher Book;
2) Newly Compiled College English Audio-Visual and Listening-Speaking Course Student Book and Teacher Book;
3) Newly Compiled College English Online Courseware (NCEOnline, http://nce.fltrp.com).
The second edition of Newly Compiled College English has been adjusted in terms of difficulty and progression. The original basic course and the units of the first to sixth volumes have been rearranged, with some materials removed and replaced, certain topics merged, and some exercises and activities updated. This makes the new edition more engaging, thought-provoking, and focused on cultivating and improving language application skills, particularly strengthening listening and speaking abilities.
Newly Compiled College English and its audio-visual and listening-speaking course are closely coordinated and mutually complementary. The materials and activities in corresponding units revolve around the same topic. In terms of language practice and the cultivation of comprehensive language application skills, they are interwoven—each supporting the other, unfolding language activities from different perspectives.
The second edition of Newly Compiled College English continues to adopt the "student-centered thematic teaching model." Based on an understanding of students' beliefs, conditions, interests, and strategies in learning English, it focuses on their difficulties and needs during the learning process, providing support and assistance to help them improve their comprehensive language application skills.
