Features: The purpose of publishing this textbook series is:
1. The content of the textbook needs to be updated to meet the requirements of physicians for the 21st century. In recent years, medical technology has advanced rapidly, the spectrum of diseases has undergone significant changes, and the techniques for disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment have been greatly improved. The newly compiled textbook must reflect these new achievements.
2. Physicians serve people. In addition to a solid foundation in medical knowledge and clinical disciplines, physicians also need to enhance their understanding of humanities and social sciences, such as health law, health economics, psychology, ethics, communication skills, and interpersonal relationships. Therefore, the newly compiled textbook should include new subject content as well as interdisciplinary integration and crossover.
3. Education, including medical education, should gradually move toward globalization. The physicians we train should be internationally recognized. Recently, the World Federation for Medical Education and the China Medical Foundation in the United States have formulated international standards for medical education or the minimum basic requirements for talent cultivation. This also provides us with a reference framework for compiling this textbook series.
