Features: Why was Kunming the first city to be officially announced by the State Council as a national-level historical and cultural city? Bu Baoyi's new book, "Houses of Famous Figures in Kunming," provides its own interpretation. This book is another gem from the cultural relic survey during the War of Resistance in Kunming and also serves as a tribute to the 60th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance in 2005. During the War of Resistance, several renowned universities in mainland China moved to the relatively safer rear areas of Kunming to escape the war, followed by a large number of famous domestic professors and scholars. For a time, Kunming became a gathering place for intellectuals, with a vibrant exchange of ideas. This book selects some of the more representative figures, using their residences in Kunming as clues to record their life and work experiences during that period, showcasing the unique social atmosphere of the time. The book features 12 of the 92 cultural relics in Kunming that belong to famous figures, including the former residences of individuals such as Wen Yiduo, Zhu Ziqing, Feng Youlan, Liang Sicheng, Lin Huiyin, Yan Jici, and Cai Xitao, from which we can seek to promote the spirit of pursuing personal integrity and strength.
