Two people lost in the whirlwind of love and desire, a cursed hopeless love, between morality and emotion, loyalty and betrayal—what awaits them? Stage lighting technician In-suk suddenly leaves his post and rushes to the hospital; his wife, Soo-jin, has been in a car accident. At the hospital, he meets Soo-yeong, whose husband is also in a coma from the same accident. They love their partners more than any other couple in the world, but they awkwardly discover that their loved ones were in the same car crash. While waiting for the patients to wake up, In-suk and Soo-yeong stay at a nearby hotel. Confusion and anger completely disrupt their peaceful lives, and in this atmosphere of suspicion, a huge secret gradually blooms.
This novel primarily tells a story of love and betrayal, marriage and morality, with a beautiful yet tragic and moving ending. They love each other more than any other couple in the world. But things that shouldn’t happen do. Confusion and anger completely shatter their quiet, peaceful lives. In this land of hatred, love is quietly sprouting between a man and a woman. They each go out, stepping into a world that seems ordinary, unaware that this turn of fate will change their lives forever: A concert is in progress, but lighting director In-suk hastily leaves the job to his assistant and rushes off. In the corridor outside the operating room in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, he meets Soo-yeong. He has come to the hospital after learning his wife, Soo-jin, was in a car accident. Soo-yeong’s husband, Kyung-ho, is also in the same car.
Betrayal: Soo-jin and Kyung-ho are in a coma due to severe injuries, while In-suk and Soo-yeong realize their "extraordinary relationship" while dealing with the accident. This is harder for In-suk and Soo-yeong to accept than the fatal car crash itself. Love turns into misunderstanding, anger, and betrayal. They condemn their lovers’ infidelity but also pray for Soo-jin and Kyung-ho’s safe recovery. Meanwhile, the two are gradually drawn to each other.
Confusion: The two stay at a car hotel near the hospital and meet repeatedly. After spending some time together, they finally fall in love. Though their lovers’ betrayal leaves them confused, they are now in the same situation, feeling the same pain. Just then, Soo-jin wakes up. In-suk cannot ignore his crying wife. Watching In-suk, Soo-yeong realizes it’s time to return to her original life. So, they agree to go out, just the two of them—perhaps for the last time.
