In recent years, Xinyong has mentioned more than once the difficulties and constraints of speech in the face of the origin of the world. His seriousness has not diminished because of his perceptiveness. Similarly, his focus on theory has in no way diminished his imaginative playfulness. Thinking and insight, summarizing and imagining, are not always mutually supportive in a scholar. Moreover, the ability to organize words does not equal true insight.
