Features: In the entrance examination of higher art colleges, color is one of the required subjects. The examination content mainly focuses on still life, and the examination format generally falls into two types: one is still-life sketching, and the other is still-life description. This book primarily introduces the former. The time for the color examination is usually 3 hours. During the examination, the main concern for each candidate is how to achieve a high score. Before engaging in color sketching training, we should understand some basic principles of color to ensure we have a clear grasp and avoid aimless drawing. The best way to learn color is through sketching. For beginners in color sketching, the still-life setup should be relatively simple, not too complex. This stage mainly focuses on training how to identify the overall color relationships, including clear tonal layers, warm and cool relationships, and purity relationships. Some candidates with experience in color sketching may have noticed that while they can see the colors of certain still-life objects, they struggle to replicate them. Additionally, when dealing with objects of similar or close colors, it becomes difficult to distinguish between them, leading to repetitive drawings. This is primarily because the correct observation method and comparative drawing approach are not being applied.
