This book collects architectural and humanistic historical materials from 21 renowned domestic libraries in China, including the National Library of China, Peking University Library, Tsinghua University Library, Shanghai Library, Zhejiang Library, and more, containing hundreds of valuable historical books. Most of these libraries have profound historical origins and clear inheritance relationships, with both old and new buildings coexisting. At the same time, their construction and decline are closely linked to the support and attention from political forces, cultural and educational circles, and other social sectors in different periods. The humanistic atmosphere is also quite strong, such as Liang Qichao and the National Library of Peking University, Li Dazhao and Peking University Library, Zhu Ziqing and Tsinghua University Library, and the Nationalist government and the Roosevelt Library, Qi Xueyuan and Meng Fang Library, and so on. Therefore, although the book is titled "A Century of Architecture," its original intention is to reflect the rise and fall of the humanistic history of Chinese library architecture over the past century in a rich and vivid visual form, in order to convey profound and substantial historical information. Thus, the readers of this book are not limited to library professionals; anyone interested in the modern and contemporary humanistic history of China will find significant value in it.
