From the perspective of social transformation, whether we can meet the growing public services and demands of the people and continuously address emerging social contradictions and issues is key to building a harmonious society. In terms of government self-improvement, resolving prominent problems and curbing certain negative corrupt phenomena largely depend on the repositioning of government functions. The title of this book, "Threshold," aims to illustrate that government transformation is a necessary hurdle in the process of tackling reform challenges. The next step in China's reform efforts hinges on whether we can cross this "threshold" of government transformation. Government transformation is not only a key focus of reform but also a major research topic in reform studies. It is hoped that the publication of this book will contribute to further discussions on the theory and practice of government transformation.
