Every child participating in the program will receive a medal and certificate issued by the Beijing Education Examination and Research Institute.
4. Standardized and Authoritative Management. The "Beijing Early Childhood English" project is supported by the strong educational resources and extensive research team of the Beijing Education Examination and Research Institute. It gathers experts and professionals from various fields, including English teaching, child psychology, and early childhood education, ensuring the project's scientificity, standardization, and authority.
With the development of economic globalization, 21st-century China will be an even more open country. English, as a universal tool for communication, will play an important role in future international competition. Therefore, teaching children English from a young age is an era mission of China's basic education. Since the 1990s, English teaching in China has shown a trend of lower age groups, with many kindergartens in major cities offering English courses. However, existing theories and teaching resources are far from meeting current needs: on one hand, there is a lack of effective methods and approaches for early childhood English teaching that suit the physical and mental development of Chinese children; on the other hand, the selection and training of early childhood English textbooks and teachers are still imperfect and standardized.
To address these issues, the Beijing Education Examination and Research Institute organized experts in English teaching and early childhood education, as well as experienced teachers, to conduct a comprehensive and in-depth survey of the current state of early childhood English teaching in Beijing. After the "Beijing Early Childhood English" project was approved, research and development were carried out on related topics. The project integrates early childhood teaching, formative assessment, and teacher training, with the "Beijing Early Childhood English Series Textbooks" being a key outcome of the research. The series consists of student books, activity books, learning cards, and teacher and parent books, featuring the following:
1. Advanced Teaching Philosophy. The thoughtful design of teaching aids, the rich creation of learning environments, the engaging content arrangement, and the orderly and lively teaching organization all reflect the principle of prioritizing children's interests. At the same time, the textbooks incorporate etiquette education and humanistic education, focusing on children's holistic development.
2. Scientific Structure, Relaxed Content, and Engaging Format. The textbooks are divided into three levels corresponding to three age groups—3-year-olds, 4-year-olds, and 5-year-olds—following the principles of children's cognitive development and gradual progression. The textbooks adopt the teaching method most suitable for young children—activity-based teaching—allowing them to naturally learn English through games, songs, and other activities. The content is completely, making learning easy and stress-free.
3. Complete Teaching Aids. The textbooks are accompanied by vivid and intuitive activity books, learning cards, and CDs, which help stimulate learning interest and develop language sense. Among them, the "Teacher and Parent Book" aims to guide teachers in correctly understanding and applying the textbooks and teaching methods, providing relevant suggestions and space for teachers and parents to explore.
