Features: Since the marketization process began in the late 1970s, China has undergone changes that have amazed the world. The rapid and impactful economic reforms have not only dazzled people but also given the common people of China the opportunity to choose a materially prosperous, dignified, and free lifestyle. Chinese entrepreneurs have played an increasingly important role as a strategic group in a bottom-up social transformation. As state-owned enterprises and private enterprises gradually align with advanced modern corporate systems through institutional transformation, our entrepreneurs are also growing into the core force shaping this societal change. In the 1940s, the modern corporate system was formally established as an advanced form of enterprise under the deepening knowledge structure and social division of labor. Marked by institutional safeguards for property rights and encouragement of all possible innovations, Western and European enterprises gradually developed into large multinational corporations that have profoundly influenced the globalization process under this system. Modern enterprises have become undeniable public institutions, and the decisions made by companies and their managers regarding prices, wages, working hours, and production levels guide and shape the lives of millions. Fortunately, late 20th-century China caught the last bus to globalization. The greatest significance of joining the WTO lies in the fact that Chinese enterprises in the future must "do things according to international conventions," thereby greatly reducing the risks associated with institutional gaps and significantly increasing the transparency of game rules, as well as expanding the order and opportunities for free cooperation among people. Contrasting this bright picture is the economic operation under the original system and the inefficiency burdens that must be passed on to enterprises to maintain the existing system. I would subjectively argue that in investing in a hopeful future, we will only lose our shackles. Of course, being absorbed into the mainstream economic operation system of the world is more due to the efforts of our country with a long history in achieving economic institutional transformation with an open mindset over the past two decades, and the relentless pursuit of Chinese enterprises in the face of the globalization wave. The gathering of numerous enterprises to deliberate together stems from their desire for excellence and their exploration of strategy.,,,·:fairness, integrity, and the development of oneself in a transparent system through free competition. Looking back at the 20-year journey of outstanding enterprises like Lenovo, Haier, and Vanke, we can see a very clear development trajectory: these emerging enterprises, with their extraordinary sensitivity and grasp of market opportunities, followed the principle of social average profit rates, achieved sustainable and steady growth through standardized corporate operations and improved management. Behind this is the broad vision and decisiveness they must possess to realize their far-reaching ideals for sustainable corporate development. Having ideals does not necessarily guarantee the success of an outstanding enterprise, but without ideals, an enterprise will certainly not endure. Exploring a culture and mechanism that does not rely on external resources will be a challenge that Chinese enterprises must face and address in the next decade. Time is fair; it washes away everything, including the colorful decorations and accessories that cover enterprises and entrepreneurs, leaving only those things that truly have value. If I personally hope that Vanke will still be mentioned in the future, it will not be just because Vanke has crossed many regions and built many houses. Rather, it will be because, in the development history of real estate in mainland China and in the exploration path of emerging enterprises, Vanke has always remained committed to thinking and innovation, leaving a series of meaningful footprints for future generations.——Wang Shi (Preface)
