Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory holds that "wine is light, bitter, sweet, and pungent," possessing the functions of "promoting blood circulation, enhancing medicinal efficacy, warming the stomach and intestines, and resisting wind cold." Preparing traditional Chinese medicine with wine to create medicinal wines leverages the properties of wine to concentrate the effects of the herbs. The region of Foshan has a long-standing reputation for TCM and Chinese medicine, and the Foshan Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital has a tradition of outstanding TCM talents. Dr. Sun Fenglei, a postdoctoral fellow in TCM from our Internal Medicine Department, and Dr. Wei Aisheng, an expert in TCM Internal Medicine, possess a solid foundation in TCM theory and extensive clinical experience. Building on the knowledge of predecessors and referencing extensive historical medical texts, while consulting the opinions of numerous renowned TCM practitioners, they systematically and comprehensively organized scattered and dispersed information on medicinal wines, provided critiques on various types of wines, and compiled them into a book. This includes both internal medicinal wines and those used externally, making it a highly practical and popular medical reference for the general public. In terms of editorial format, the book is organized by the functions of medicinal wines and includes an index for easy reference by readers.
