Features: The collection in this volume consists of recently unearthed impressions from Liu Jiazhai. As we have not yet fully grasped all the materials of the recently unearthed impressions from Liu Jiazhai, we cannot make comparative comments on the impressions included in this volume. However, one thing is certain: based on the basic interpretation of the inscriptions, the condition of these impressions is relatively complete compared to what the author has seen. They are of great help in enriching and corroborating the previously unearthed Western Han impressions from Liu Jiazhai.
Liu Chuangxin, as a seal carver, pays attention to the collection and organization of ancient Chinese impressions. What sets him apart is his realization that their significance is not merely the archaeological value of a single seal and impression, nor the reference to the calligraphic techniques of each stroke. More importantly, through the existing impressions, he gains an understanding of the overall calligraphic style of the Western Han period, allowing him to grasp the characteristics of that highly significant era more clearly. This greatly benefits the improvement of his seal-carving skills.
He generously donated this collection of impressions to the Xiling Seal Society. His purpose was not only to enrich the society's collection, but I believe the greater significance lies in passing on the insights and understanding he has gained to more seal-carving enthusiasts. This differs greatly from the mindset of someone who hoards rare treasures.
