The Complete Works of Zhu Ziqing, Volume 3

Author: Zhu Qiaosen
Publisher:
Publish Date: 1999-03-01
Features: This volume includes four collections: "Random Notes on Language," "Standards and Measures," "On Shared Appreciation of Art," and "Language Shadows and Others." These works mostly discuss the language and characters familiar to the author and his long-term research. Of course, there are also discussions about people, events, and literature and books outside the realm of language and literature. Most of the essays written in the author's later years are included in this volume. These essays are mostly so-called "rational essays," representing another shift in the author's prose style. As the author himself said, it reflects his "effort to understand tradition from a modern perspective." The term "modern perspective" also means "a stance close to the people." Most of the texts in this volume speak "in this direction." However, although they are called "rational essays," they still leave us feeling full of literary charm when read.
