Features: Malaysia: Natural Geography: Area of 329,000 square kilometers. Located in Southeast Asia, the entire territory is divided into East Malaysia and West Malaysia by the South China Sea. West Malaysia is the Malay Peninsula region, located in the southern part of the Malay Peninsula, bordering Thailand to the north, facing the Strait of Malacca to the west, and the South China Sea to the east. East Malaysia is a combination of the states of Sarawak and Sabah, located in the northern part of Borneo Island. The coastline is 4,192 kilometers long. It has a tropical rainforest climate. The average annual temperature in the inland mountain areas is 22℃—28℃, while the coastal plains range from 25℃—30℃. Population: 24.517 million (2002). Among them, Malays and other indigenous peoples account for 66.1%, Chinese account for 25.3%, and Indians account for 7.4%. The indigenous population of Sarawak is primarily Ibans, while that of Sabah is primarily Kadazans. Malay is the national language, with English widely spoken. Chinese is also used extensively. Islam is the state religion, and other religions include Buddhism, Hinduism, and Christianity, among others.
