Features: To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the death of the great German writer Friedrich Schiller, the People's Literature Publishing House published the Chinese edition of Schiller's Collected Works. Schiller's works are filled with an uplifting idealism and humanitarian spirit, embodying praise for human freedom and dignity, and hold an important position in the history of world literature and thought. The Chinese edition of the collection was selected and compiled by Zhang Yushu, with the collaboration of senior translators such as Qian Chunqi, Zhang Penggao, Zhu Yanbing, and Zhang Jiajue. Most of the works are newly translated, while unfinished works like Demetrius are translated for the first time. The translations refer to carefully collated and extensively annotated German editions. The collection comprises six volumes, totaling two million words. Volume one contains poetry and fiction; volumes two to five include eleven plays such as The Robbers, Fiesco's Conspiracy, Conspiracy and Love, Don Carlos, Wallenstein, Maria Stuart, The Maid of Orleans, Turandot, The Bride of Messina, William Tell, and Demetrius; and volume six contains theoretical works such as Letters on the Aesthetic Education of Man.
