After Rilke became famous, he deeply regretted his early works, but everything he wrote in Prague was not entirely worthless. Although he had not yet found his own artistic path at the time, most of his works were imitative and sentimental, yet they also lacked sensitivity and pursuit of beauty. Some shining masterpieces were enough to foreshadow the poet's future, such as Offerings to the Genius of the House, Coronation in a Dream, Celebrate for Me, and others. The Book of Images is a collection of poems frequently mentioned in literary history. It was first published in early 1902 and revised and republished in 1906. These poems attempt to use "images" to structurally fix the entire collection, representing a transition from vague sorrow to precise form.
