Features: With the prosperity of China's market economy and the development of social civilization, art and design education has gained widespread attention from society, and high-level design talents have become a hot focal point. To address this, many institutions have added graphic design programs, intensifying efforts in cultivating design talents. However, in the curriculum development and teaching systems of art and design education, textbooks play a crucial role in talent cultivation. The systematic construction and improvement of professional textbooks directly impact teaching quality and learning outcomes. To solve this problem, middle-aged and young teachers actively engaged in art and design education, leveraging their years of teaching experience, have organized and compiled this "Series of Basic Textbooks for Graphic Design." It covers major courses in graphic design, such as logo design, typography, poster design, CI design, and structural sketching. The entire textbook series features a scientific and comprehensive structure, concise yet rich content, and a diverse format. It provides both systematic theoretical foundations and practical case studies, making it suitable for professional teaching and readers aspiring to self-study and achieve success. The publication of this series is expected to promote the development of art and design education and the advancement of design arts.
Modern graphic design, throughout its more than 100 years of formation and development, has undergone various changes in design philosophy, methods, and techniques alongside the societal trends of technological modernization, industrial informatization, and economic globalization, ultimately shaping its current thriving state. In the 18th-19th centuries, the Industrial Revolution centered in Europe spurred updates in design concepts, while the Bauhaus theory of integrating science and art laid a solid foundation for the development of art and design. Meanwhile, the information revolution and advancements in digital technology have profoundly transformed social structures and forms. A knowledge-based, non-physical society is emerging, which inevitably provides new perspectives and vast opportunities for the development of art and design. At the same time, art and design will carry historical missions and develop new realms of human life in unique ways.
