On the roadside lawn, there are couples leaning on umbrellas. Watching them, I see myself from ten years ago. They might see me as a wandering old man. Shenzhen, You Make Me Tearful is just such a reflective text, imbued with nostalgia, telling a story that is irresistible and heart-wrenching about the simplicity of youth's spiritual world and the sincerity of friendship in that era. The story takes place in Shenzhen 15 years ago. The protagonist was once a highly scholarly teacher who came to Shenzhen swept up in the tide of commerce. He experienced the dreams, struggles, and disillusionments that young people who ventured into Shenzhen must go through, and his genuine love with the girl Xiao Qing ultimately shattered. The novel is deeply nostalgic, reflecting the confusion, desires, and pursuits of Shenzhen youth in the late 1980s through the value orientations and fates of several characters with different personalities. It recalls the simple emotions and sincere friendships of that generation. The background of the events in the novel is Shenzhen 15 years ago.
